World Series Vacation Week 1.
The regular Backroads and Ballplayers column/blog, will return November 13
Good Morning,
I am on the road restocking bookstores, making presentations, and spending time with family and friends. So...I am giving myself a two-week World Series vacation from Substack. The weekly format will return on November 13.
Last week, we had to bring out more chairs at Arkansas Tech for the World Series Event. Among the crowd were coaches and players from area high schools, and Arkansas Tech. I tried to explain why their grandpas love the game. It was a wonderful evening.
I also spent an hour or so at the Johnson County Library. I met some old friends and made some new ones. Johnson County was a baseball hot spot in the history of Arkansas baseball.
My last stop was Saturday, October 28, in my hometown, Ozark, Arkansas. Whoever coined the phrase, "you can't go home again," is not from Ozark. My classmates and I had an unscheduled class reunion, and many other old friends came to the Franklin County Library on a rainy Saturday morning. We had a room full of folks, and it really did feel like going home.
I will be a a local authors event at the Yell County Library in Danville on Saturday.
See you later.
